How Do We Handle Referrals?

Do you already have a referral system, or do you want to use a new system? Do you organize material by age, specialty, path, or alphabetically? Who gives parents referral information?

You should answer these questions before you implement your screening program.

Among the community programs that may be available for further evaluation or intervention are:

• School systems (≥3 years)
• Head Start (children at risk)
